OPOTC Private Security Training Academy
Duration:132 HoursTuition:$1150.00 INCLUDES FIREARMS CERTIFICATION, TASER CERTFICATION ASP AND OC CERTIFICATION.

Description:An Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission approved course. Commonly referred to as the "120" course, this six week course of instruction provides the individual with base knowledge and skills to become a security officer. A partial list of the classes in this course include: Role of Private Security; Overview of the Legal System; Criminal Law; Laws of Arrest; Search & Seizure; Public Relations; Crisis Situations; Unarmed Self Defense; Dealing w/ Persons w/ Developmental Disabilities; Cultural Sensitivity; Report Writing; Physical Security; First Aid/CPR; Retail Security; Personnel Security; Crime Prevention; Fire Safety; Patrol Techniques; and Crowd Control. Each student will receive an Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission certificate upon successful completion.
Starting in January 2011, the Academy will expand the standard OPOTA course to include:
132 hour OPOTA Basic Training

- Human Relations
- Communications & Report Writing
- Loss Prevention
- Safety & Protective Services
- Self Defense
- CPR & First Aid
- 20 hour pistol course*
- X-26 Taser certification
- Oleoresin Capsicum (Pepper Spray) certification
- ASP collapsible baton certification
